Brian Withrow

Brian Withrow has faithfully recreated General Grant’s headquarters at City Point right down to the chairs in front of the tent.

Impressionist Brian Withrow and a supporting cast present a program entitled, Origins of the end of the American Civil War. Brian portrays Ulysses S. Grant in 1864-65 from the period of his appointment to the rank of  Lieutenant General to the end of the war.

Brian Withrow at Cedar Creek in October 2021 with his City Point headquarters setup.

In the field the impression is presented in a reproduction of General Grant’s field headquarters as it appeared in the Eastern Theater as documented in historic photographs and witness descriptions. The goal is to leave an audience with not only an understanding of Ulysses Grant the man, but also the formulation of the “grand strategy plan” and the resulting operational execution that led to the end of the war.
